What we’re fighting for.

The National Association of Broadcasters has released its Policy Agenda for the 117th Congress. The priorities are (1) Preserving local journalism in the age of big tech (support of a free press); (2) Advertising tax opposition; (3) Performance tax opposition; (4) Broadcast ownership (support looser rules); (5) Retransmission consent (support current system of privately-negotiated deals); (6) Increased diversity through tax certificates; (7) Spectrum issues (opposing unlicensed spectrum giveaways, potential interference to broadcasters). NAB President/CEO Gordon Smith commented, “America’s local radio and television broadcasters stand ready to help our nation overcome the challenges that lie ahead. NAB looks forward to working with the new administration and Congress on bipartisan policies to address the crises facing our nation, while helping keep our millions of listeners and viewers informed, safe, and connected.” For more details, visit http://www.nab.org/bpa2020/agenda.html.
