Wharton retiring; departments shuffled.

NAB Executive Vice President of Communications Dennis Wharton will be retiring effective July 1 after 24 years with the organization. He will continue to serve as a senior advisor to the Association. In the wake of Mr. Wharton’s departure from his current post, the NAB is merging the Communications Department and the Marketing Department into what will be known as the Public Affairs Department, led by current Executive Vice President/Marketing Michelle Lehman. Senior Vice President/Communications Ann Marie Cumming will become the primary spokesperson for the NAB, assisted by her colleague, Vice President/Media Relations Zamir Ahmed. NAB President/CEO Gordon Smith had this to say about Mr. Wharton: “Dennis is a fervent advocate for local broadcasting, and his dedication to the NAB and the broadcast industry cannot be overstated.”
