Rich Tunkel, a 24-year veteran at Nielsen, has been appointed as the head of Nielsen Audio Client Services, overseeing 15 client service representatives nationwide. In his new role, Tunkel aims to address the needs of the radio industry, focusing on transforming the diary service, reducing the gap between radio consumption and advertising funding, and ensuring the client perspective is considered in Nielsen’s product development. He plans to strengthen the diary service, particularly in diary markets, following the deployment of wearable PPM devices in metered markets. Tunkel also prioritizes promoting radio across Nielsen’s channels and communications, forging partnerships to enhance capabilities, and preserving the robustness of measurement services. Additionally, he aims to bridge the disparity between radio consumption and its advertising share by emphasizing radio’s strength and resilience in comparison to fragmented video reach.
