Sam Altman ousted as CEO of ChatGPT parent OpenAI in surprise move.

Sam Altman will leave OpenAI, the company’s board announced Friday in a surprise move suggesting he was fired for not being “consistently candid in his communications with the board.” Altman, who co-founded OpenAI in 2015, has led the firm that launched ChatGPT a year ago and sparked an AI boom, since 2019. Greg Brockman, OpenAI president and board chairman, announced later Friday he was quitting the firm. The company hours earlier had said he would step down as board chairman but remain as president. The company said Mira Murati, its chief technology officer, will serve as interim CEO, effective immediately.
