Regular readers of this publication are familiar with my contention that Bob Pittman and his merry band of pranksters are transforming their radio-centric business into an events business with hundreds of promotional outlets. Now, thanks to Media Monitors and their weekly National Radio Advertisers Report, we have seen evidence that that is in fact what is happening. For the week of August 16-22, iHeartRadio promos for the iHeart Radio Music Festival take the number one slot in terms of number of units broadcast. In doing so, iHeart unseats perennial champion Progressive Auto Insurance.
