News appetite on the rise.

According to the Nielsen Total Audience Report for 2016, because of the ever-changing political landscape and the earth colorful administration, listeners and viewers are flocking to their favorite news sources in record numbers. Overall, adults 18+ spent over 72.5 billion minutes consuming news in the average week in 2016, and 18% increase from the prior year. On the audio side, both smartphone and radio news increased in every key demographic: overall, radio news in the top 50 markets reached 26.8% of all adults in the average week, as compared to 26.1% in 2015. Listeners spent an average of five hours a week listening to the news in 2016—14 minutes more than in 2015.
