IHeart restructures; “employee dislocation” ensues.

When the 800-pound gorilla decides to rearrange the furniture, a body count inevitably follows. And so it is that scores or even hundreds of iHeartMedia employees are being broomed as the company adopts a new OR chart. The Markets Group—the people who operate radio stations day-to-day in local markets—is being reorganized into three divisions within each market, with a fourth division overlaid on all markets to consolidate divisions for programming, marketing, digital, podcasts, sales, and support. According to a company release, this restructuring is seen as “modernizing the company to take advantage of the significant investments it has made in technology and artificial intelligence, and its unique scale and leadership position in the audio marketplace.”
