Half of America pays for its music.

According to a new “Share of Ear” report, Edison Research has found that 47% of all Americans age 13 and older are subscribing to at least one paid audio service—twice the number in 2015. In contrast to what is happening to streaming video, “More people are paying to avoid commercials,” according to Edison President Larry Rosin. “I have to believe that we will see more subscription efforts in the future, particularly from radio companies.”
