Indecency down

The FCC reports that for the period of April-June of this year, “the number of radio and television complaints decreased by more than 44%, from 3,903 to 2,183.” More to the point, the statistic is “due to a decrease in complaints regarding programming issues.” (The Commission does not break down activities by medium.) After the recent Supreme Court action, the Commission will continue to act on indecency complaints about radio, and may well resume issuing fines. The agency has not issued a notice of apparent liability against a radio station since the middle part of the last decade.
