Apple spins a new service.

Apple has launched new Radio Spins charts through Shazam, its music recognition service, to monitor global radio airplay. These charts track nearly a million hours of music daily from over 40,000 radio stations across more than 200 countries and regions, offering a comprehensive view of radio music trends. The charts, updated daily, are accessible to Apple Music subscribers and include a global top 200 and genre-specific charts for Pop, Hip-Hop/Rap, Dance, Electronic, R&B/Soul, Alternative, Rock, Latin, and Country. Shazam’s website also provides free access to global and genre-specific charts, including AfroBeats, Worldwide, Reggae/Dancehall, and others. Apple acquired Shazam in 2018 to compete with music streamers like Spotify, furthering its efforts to retain market share as YouTube gains traction in the podcasting domain.
