Administration advances Commissioner candidate.

To fill the void left by the departure of Commissioner Michael O’Rielly, the administration has nominated Nathan A. Simington, currently senior advisor at the National Telecommunications and Information Administration. As you may recall, Commissioner O’Rielly was denied renomination after making a public statement against the administration’s stance on removing protection from liability for social media platforms for third-party posts. (Needless to say, Mr. Simington is on board.) Speaking on behalf of the broadcast industry, NAB Chief Gordon Smith congratulates Nathan Simington on his nomination to the FCC. We wish him the best during the confirmation process and look forward to working with him on the critical issues affecting local radio and TV broadcasters should he be confirmed to the Commission.””
