Women in the radio workplace.

Must be Casual Friday

According to the latest Gender Analysis Study commissioned by the Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio Group (MIW), a little over 18% of the 11,301 AM and FM radio stations in the US, a little over 18% of them had female general managers in 2017 – slightly more than in 2016. But women are really gaining in the position of sales manager, where nearly 32% of all stations have women in that position, slightly up from last year. The program director position is a different story, however, with only 10.5% of all the radio stations programmed by women. MIW Group spokeswoman Denyse Mesnik offered, “Our hope is that the MIW Gender Analysis sports conversation within each company, and at each radio station, about ways to develop internal efforts that encourage the advancement of female leadership.”
