With new nomination, the Commission could be in full force again.

The president will announce his nomination of FCC General Counsel Brendan Carr to fill the open Republican seat on the FCC. Both his nomination and that of Jessica Rosenworcel are subject to Senate confirmation. The fate of Mignon Clyburn is still a bit unclear: her term ends at the end of the month, and there has as of yet been no word on either her renomination or her successor. FCC chairman Ajit Pai called Carr “a tremendous asset to the Commission.” NAB President/CEO Gordon Smith said that Carr “has the right temperament to be a superb Commissioner.”
