Veteran radio journalist hangs it up.

In today’s issue of Tom Taylor NOW, the eponymous reporter broke the news:

“Yes, it’s time for me to retire. In my head, I may still think I’m a kid, but my odometer is about to roll over to a large round number (70). And at this point in my life, my family needs more of me.”

In what he is calling “A radio goodbye,” Mr. Taylor has set his last day of publication as Friday, December 21

Editors $0.02: I have been a fan of Tom Taylor since as long as I can remember. He has been a reliable, unbiased reporter of our industry’s ups and downs – and everybody loves him. (Just try to get from one end of an exhibit hall to the other without being stopped constantly by Taylor well-wishers.) I can’t think of anybody who could spend as much time and energy to get it right, five days a week. I know I’m not the only one who will miss his voice every day, but I join pretty much everybody else in wishing Tom the very best in his next chapter. I’ll tell you this: the NAB Press Room is going to feel awfully empty this year.
