The Administration’s proposed budget for next year fulfills a campaign promise: zero federal funding for public broadcasting. Actually, that’s not true: over $30 million will be devoted to shutting down the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and unwinding the $445 million requested for 2019. CPB president/CEO Patricia Harrison issued a statement saying, “Public broadcasting offered educational content and emergency alert capability, all for approximately $1.35 in taxes per person each year.”
