According to Standard Media Index, 2017 saw an overall 3.7% increase in domestic ad spend—but the story, as usual, is the growth of digital media. In terms of 2017 versus 2016, digital grew 11.6%, radio increased 5.9%, and out-of-home was up 4.6%. On the negative side, television was down 3.0% and print was down 3.5%. If you break down digital, Snapchat led the way with a growth of 51.0%, followed by Facebook (40.5%), Pinterest (38.6%), and LinkedIn (8.0%). Interestingly, Twitter showed a decline of 11.8% from year to year.
