The no-paper chase.

During this month’s FCC Open Meeting on October 23, the Commission unanimously approved the elimination of the rule mandating broadcasters to file paper copies of station contracts and other documents. When the new rule takes effect, stations will upload those documents to their online public file; or, they can opt to upload a list of documents, paper copies of which must be produced within seven days upon request. On behalf of the industry, NAB Executive Vice President/Communications Dennis Wharton called the move “a common-sense update to broadcast regulations,” and said, “NAB appreciates the Commission’s continued efforts to modernize outdated regulatory burdens on local TV and radio stations.”
