Survey says: Location-targeted mobile ad spending to grow 17% a year.

According to a new BIA/Kelsey Industry Watch report, spending on mobile ads in the United States will grow from $33 billion in 2016 to $72 billion in 2021. Add location-targeting as a filter and the numbers are $12.4 billion today and $32.4 billion in 2021. According to BIA/Kelsey Chief Analyst Mike Boland, “The smart phone revolution turns and this year, and we’ve come a long way, but many are far behind, still operating with a desktop mindset. They’ll be left behind in the next era of mobile, defined by native-social, voice interfaces and multimedia, not banner ad and traditional search.”
