baby-cowboyAccording to Nielsen, the growth in Country music is coming from younger listeners, driven by artists like Taylor Swift—whose new album “1989,” is selling at the pace of 1 million copies a week—Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban. In fact, Ms. Swift’s album is her first official crossover hit, marking one of the myriad times in the history of the format that Country has invaded Pop charts. Due to the fuzzy boundary between Country and Pop, the profile of the Country listener is becoming younger—young adults under 44 and women—mirroring the sweet spot for Pop music as well.
