Shocker! Artists Fight IRFA

A consortium of more than 100 groups, musicians and singers published an ad in Billboard Magazine voicing opposition to the Internet Radio Fairness Act, and specifically IRFA supporter Pandora. The group notes that they are “big fans” of Pandora, but takes exception to Pandora’s lobbying efforts to lower its own royalties: “That’s not fair and that’s not how partners work together.”

According to SoundExchange President Michael Huppe, “We all want Internet radio to succeed, but it won’t if it tries to do so on the backs of hard-working musicians and singers. It is important that we protect artists and the long-term value of their music, which is, after all, the foundation of Internet radio.”
