Record Industry Finally Shows Digital Profit

The Universal Music Group, the largest record company in the world, is reporting that it is in the black again, finally, for the first time since the decline of CD sales and the increase of digital purchases. When digital downloads first took the stage, in the Napster era, the record companies were shut out of the revenue stream, but over the years they have figured out how to monetize digital, and it is finally beginning to pay off.
