NextRadio conducted an in-app survey recently and found that more than one third of the respondents do not plan to vote in November. About 25% said they are “Undecided” about voting, and 42% said they do plan to vote. By comparison, in the 2012 presidential race, 38% of eligible voters stayed away from the polls. According to NextRadio, radio can play an important role in reaching the undecided voters and those who plan not to vote at all. According to NextRadio chief Paul Brenner (technically president of TagStation LLC, a division of Emmis Communications), “It was a simple question we asked, but one with obvious opportunity for broadcasters nationwide. The survey highlights the large number (58%) of undecided voters where radio’s reach and frequency can make a difference for candidates getting out the vote, and certainly makes the case for more campaign spending on radio.”
