PIRATE Act gets a second chance.

In case you forgot, PIRATE stands for Pirate Illegal Radio Abuse through Enforcement, and the measure introduced by Representatives Paul Tonko (D-NY) and Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) last year—which passed the House but not the Senate—has been reintroduced for another go. The Act would stiffen fines for illegal radio operators to $100,000 per day violation, up to a maximum of $2 million, as well as mandating special enforcement periods for the markets with the most illegal broadcasting activity.
