Once again, radio shines a light on disaster.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey and the advent of Irma, radio is stepping up in two ways: stations in afflicted areas are staying on the air, offering information and much-needed entertainment. Stations outside the areas hit by the storms are actively soliciting or encouraging donations in a variety of ways, from simple announcements and website banner ads directing listeners to the American Red Cross or a legitimate local charity, to more involved fundraising efforts—everything from bake sales to concerts.
