NAB Requests Indecency Extension

The National Association of Broadcasters has asked the FCC for more time to submit comments in the Commission’s review of their indecency rules. The NAB writes, “The Commission should allow adequate time for all interested parties to address fully all relevant issues and prepare thorough and thoughtful comments. NAB also needs sufficient time to consider the views of our varied membership and to gather additional information about the impacts of specific policies on radio and television stations and networks.”

Broadcasters have their work cut out for them: the Parents Television Council has been beating the bushes for comments favoring stiffening of the rules, and various reports have it that a review of the comments received so far indicate that an overwhelming majority favors stricter regulation.
