NAB digs deep, rips Commission for ownership rules review process.

The industry organization had made a Freedom of Information Act request for the work product that went into the FCC’s decision not to change the ownership rules by very much. Recently, NAB Executive Vice President/General Counsel Rick Kaplan filed a letter with the Commission, saying that the work product produced under the FOIA request was, “to put it mildly, underwhelming. A hollow foundation for research or analysis, the records prove what broadcasters have long suspected—the FCC has taken a purposeful ‘head in the sand’ approach to its required quadrennial examination of the media marketplace.”
