More streamlining proposed by the FCC.

The Commission is considering a proposal that would eliminate the requirement of broadcasters to submit paper copies of some of their contracts and other documents relating to ownership and control of the public for access in the FCC’s public reference room. Many have suggested that the rule is unnecessary, given that stations are now required to retain the paperwork in their public files. The proceeding is being opened as Media Bureau Document 18-4. It will be considered during the Commission’s January 30 Open Meeting.
