Legislator introduces “one-stop” licensing bill.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte is Planning to Introduce and umbrella licensing bill, which would include “the Music Modernization Act,” the “CLASSICS Act,” and the “Allocation for Music Producers (AMP) Act.” In that order, the individual measures purport to overhaul the digital license process and improve compensation to songwriters… compensate songwriters and artists for music produced prior to 1972… and improve royalty payments to producers and engineers. Goodlatte intends to use his umbrella bill March; according to an article in The Tennessean, this is “a clear indication that long-sought federal copyright form could be enacted in 2018.”
