IHeartMedia wants to preserve Class A power.

The media giant is challenging the AM Revitalization rules by mounting an online campaign to oppose the cutback in protected service contours of Class A AM stations. They gave WGY/Albany, NY as an example: “The FCC’s proposal to reduce the escape protective service area will mean that many of our nighttime listeners will not be able to enjoy the same signal quality at night and during drive-times, jeopardizing your ability to enjoy WGY programming to receive important emergency weather alerts and other information.” The company is having its Class A stations use a boilerplate template with which to compose the letters.
