Delivery Problems
If you are having any problems downloading,
reading and/or printing the SMRN files, read these trouble-shooting tips:
- Are you using version 6.0 or higher of Adobe
Reader?
- If so, have you tried downloading the file rather
than trying to open it directly in your web browser? To do this, position your mouse
pointer on the file name of the attachment to the e-mail I send you each week (or the
filename on the Back Issues web page), and click with the right button. A menu should come
up. Choose "Save Link As ..." and save the SMRN file (which should have a PDF
extension). Then do one of two things:
- Go to your File Manager Windows Explorer or
Finder (Mac), find the SMRN PDF file, and double-click on it. This
should automatically load Adobe Reader and load the SMRN file.

Find the Adobe Reader icon and double-click
on it. This will load Reader. Then, use File | Open to open the SMRN file.
If either of these two techniques is successful,
then we know that the PDF files are getting to you successfully, and that
Adobe Reader is
correctly installed on your computer. But, for some reason, your browser is not
recognizing the link to the Reader program. The best bet is to reinstall the
Adobe program, either from the EXE file you downloaded from the Adobe web site, or by starting
from scratch and downloading the file again.
