Gary Owens, 1934-2014.

owens-gary-studioWho among us, young or old, is not familiar with the hand-cupped-over-the-year stentorian style Mr. Owens made famous on the “Laugh In” television program in the early 70s? What many do not realize is that Owens brought his straight/goofy act over from a long radio career that began in Mitchell, SD and culminated in on-air and executive posts for a number of stations and groups in Los Angeles. In addition to his radio and television work, he voiced thousands of commercials, performed cartoon voices, narrations, and wrote for several TV cartoon shows, including “Rocky and Bullwinkle.”
