Flurry of communications bills pass in Congress.

It’s certain that grass will not be growing under our new president’s feet, and one example is the 11 bills that passed out of the Energy and Commerce Committee, including several FCC- and communications-related measures. One of the most important was the Federal Communications Commission Process Reform Act 2017, designed to streamline the Commission’s procedures. Another bill, the Federal Communications Commission Consolidated Reporting Act of 2017, consolidates eight separate FCC reports into one single overview. Both passed by voice vote. Other bills include one to preserve network access during disasters, one to protect ham radio operators from deed restrictions, and one to prohibit spoofing caller IDs.
