FCC oversight hearing later this month.

The House Subcommittee on Communications and Technology has scheduled an FCC oversight hearing for October 25. Going into the hearing, there are a couple of issues that are looming: the markup of the measure to reauthorize and reform the Commission, and the pressure from the administration on news organizations that report so-called “fake news.” Regarding the former, Subcommittee Chair Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) notes, “The agency plays an increasingly important role as society becomes more dependent on technology, and the authorizing statute needs to be updated to reflect the current state of the communications marketplace.”
