Friday, June 24 is the date on which the first group of broadcast and satellite radio licensees must comply with the FCC’s new online public inspection file database. The first group consists of commercial radio stations in the top 50 Nielsen markets with five or more full-time employees; satellite radio and television; and cable systems with over 1,000 subscribers. All other commercial radio stations have until March 1, 2017 to comply. In the meantime, letters and emails from the public must still be retained but are not to be uploaded to the online file. The database was open for testing last week.
