Commission nicks old owner

Debut Broadcasting, which used to own three stations in Greenville, MS, has been fined $15,000 by the FCC for not having an operating EAS system. The stations did have an EAS system, but the switching equipment which was to share the system among the stations was inoperative. In addition, field agents from the New Orleans FCC office found one of the stations was operating after sundown with double its licensed power. The final tally: operating at daytime power in the evening, $7,000; EAS issues, $8,000; total, $15,000 in fines.
