Commission gets court OK to decide on multilingual emergency alerts.

The US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia has rejected the assertion of several minority interest groups that the FCC should require emergency alerts in more than one language. Multicultural Media, Telcom and Internet Council, and the League of United Latin American Citizens had brought suit to compel the Commission to implement the multilingual alerts right away instead of going through the public comment process. The court commented, “Under the law, the FCC’s approaches passes muster.”
