Carl Kasell, 84.

The longtime National Public Radio news anchor – and, more famously, the announcer on the tongue-in-cheek quiz show “Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me” – died last week of complications from Alzheimer’s. Kasell became so popular as a result of his “Wait Wait” role that a highly-coveted prize on the show was a Kasell-voiced outgoing message for your answering machine (remember them?).
