BMI sues RMLC.

Music licensor BMI has filed suit in Federal Rate Court to set interim fees for radio stations represented by the Radio Music License Committee; the two organizations are in the process of negotiating a new five-year licensing deal to begin this year. BMI claims that the RMLC interim rate proposal, which is significantly below the BMI arrangement in effect last year, “would have a significant impact on the royalties BMI pays to its songwriters, composers and music publishers. BMI. . .is asking the Court to maintain its most recent rate while new terms are negotiated.”
