At last—the window for AM translators is opening.

At long last, the FCC has announced the two filing windows for AM translators in conjunction with the AM Revitalization Order: January 29-July 28, and July 29-October 31. The windows allow AM licensee applications to move one non-reserved band (92.1 through 107.9) translator up to 250 miles from the translator’s currently-licensed site. The first window will be open to Class C or D AM stations; the second will be open to all AM stations. Translators can be moved from any frequency in the commercial FM band, and any translators so moved must rebroadcast the specified AM station for at least four years.
