Another FM chip victory.

TagStation, the parent company of NextRadio, announced that Samsung has agreed to unlock the FM chip embedded in its U.S. and Canada, smartphones. TagStation President Paul Brenner says, “Samsung should be lauded for taking this important step. They are providing their customers a more engaging, immersive radio experience and, as importantly, a means to connect with the life-saving information in emergency.” Samsung joins manufacturers LG, Motorola, and Alcatel, who have all agreed to unlock the chips in their phones—basically leaving Apple as the one maker who seems not to care about the convenience and safety of their users.
