The three-day iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas was a huge success on every level. The event was programmed within a gnat’s eyelash, the sound was great, the crowd was enthusiastic to say the least as they saw and heard act after headline act the likes of Pink, Bon Jovi, Brad Paisley, the Jonas Brothers, and LL Cool J, as well as up-and-coming artists from every conceivable genre. Leading Clear Channel personalities Ryan Seacrest and Elvis Duran hit the stage—Seacrest with Britney Spears in tow to introduce Miranda Lambert, Duran to proclaim that the big concert was “all about the fans—and we are all fans.”

But what is a rock concert without a little disruption? In this case, the event that gave the festival street cred was when Green Day took the stage, and due to a technical snafu was given a one-minute warning about two thirds through their set. The band’s Billy Joe Armstrong responded with an R-rated rant that led to the entire group smashing their guitars and walking off the stage—thus ensuring killer word-of-mouth for the festival, not to mention the viral video.
