Ain’t Afraid of No Ghost Station

The FCC is perplexed about a radio station in Omaha, NE, “1490 KMOJ” which has been playing a nonstop Oldies mix without spots, jocks or IDs—and, it turns out, without a studio location or licensed owners. Paperwork filed with the commission indicates that the station is owned by Cochise Broadcasting in Jackson, WY, but no address or phone are listed. Upon investigation, FCC agents tracked down the address of the company, which proved to be the main studio for Journal Broadcast Group in Omaha, but Cochise evidently pays to lease space but doesn’t use it. The FCC continues to investigate.
